Hey guys,
Details: I have a 2007 Ruckus. I got it stock and started tweaking it.
- NCY (Teflon coated) variator (7 grams slider to go with aggressive clutch) - New belt - NCY aftermarket clutch kit
*After these upgrades I was bouncing off my stock CDI, so I got a rolling wrench CDI/coil combo. Once done, I was hitting 45mph on flat, and 50mph on a slight hill.
I wanted more, so I installed an airbox elimination kit (ruckshop) with a K&N filter, and an SP exhaust (MNNTBX). I jetted a 38 slow, and 82 main (I live in Hawaii, so it is humid, and warm all year round, not much fluctuation in temp or atmospheric pressure). Since the exhaust and airbox removal, my top end SUCKS. Probably dropped 8mph. Acceleration is quick up to 30mph, but after that I hit a wall. It almost feels like at 30mph I am hitting another rev limiter, the engine skips, etc. I feel like I have the power available to get to 48-50mph, but something is pushing me back.
I know the usual jetting for these exhaust are 38-82, but I I checked my spark plug last night and it was black and sutty like I was running rich? I’m going to try to drop down to an 80 main today.
I’m aware these scooters are particular with the air/fuel ratio, but thought I’d be one of the lucky ones to balance it well. Any thoughts as to what to try? Desperate here. I have a tach in the mail to better gauge RPMs.
