This is one of those things that sneak up on you, you have been busy all the time with a lot of ideas for the future, then one day all of a sudden you need glasses to read, the doctor tells you your cholesterol is out of control, your blood pressure is out of the charts, plus you need to loose all the pounds you gained since you were 18
Then you realize if you need extra money for all those projects, you are out of luck, as working the same amount you used to before leave you super tired, so over time or small side jobs is impossible if you want to do something else when you get home beside eating and sleeping, and you need to if you are married, so you can forget about that sport car you were hoping to buy or that exploring trip to the Amazon rain forest
All my life, since my dad took me to visit his friend Juan ranch; i got to see his car collection which included an original Lotus Seven and it was love at first sight, i have been dreaming of owning one. But every time i was close to buy one, something or other came up and i had to spend the money on something else, now with my kids gone they have gotten so expensive i can not longer afford one when i thought i will finally could, the other options are to buy from Catherham or go the super cheap option and go LOCOST (goggle it) which will involve building one from scratch, the later one have become the most viable option, and started doing some research and asking around, someone came with the idea that since i was starting from zero why not go to a modern interpretation of the original idea and point me to Grabercars.com and build a "La Bala".
So here i am after sleeping on the idea for a while, decided to build one but with some personal touches, the original uses a Toyota MR2 as a donor vehicle which is already a mid-engine car, but building a car based on Toyota parts for someone who makes a living fixing and tunning Nissan vehicles since the late 80's will be too hard, so i will have to use a front wheel drive platform like the Nissan Sentra or the late 200SX and modify the plans to work with it, i hope i am not over my head with it, i have modify a bunch of street cars and race cars, some very heavily but never started from zero, so i am a little scare. Plus now that i have the plans, that is what they are there is no instructions, so is up to the builder to decide in the starting point and sequence of construction. Now i am really scare but i will go ahead with the project anyway.
Wish me luck
