This is a guide to ordering parts from your local Honda dealer. I've written this for a North American audience, and I'm a Canadian, so perhaps ordering in America is different, but I doubt it.
Sorry but I can't provide any guides for other countries, though some of this should apply.
Step One: Getting the Part Number
Before you can order a part, or parts, you need to know the Honda part number(s).
To get the numbers you can use the Ron Ayers fiche website: fiche.ronayers.com/
Click on the Motor Scooter link under the Honda logo at the top left, on the next page click on the year your Ruckus was made (ie: 2007), and finally on the next page click on NPS50 which is the Ruckus model number. (In North America anyway.)
The next page has links to various sections of parts. Click on whichever one is appropriate and a diagram will appear showing an exploded diagram of all of the parts in that section. The parts are numbered in the diagram and below that is a table listing all of the parts by number.
Ref. # is the number the part has in the diagram and Part # is the Honda part number.
You can click on the part number to see additional info on the part, including what Ron Ayer charges for it (US$). This will give you an idea what it might cost, but keep in mind you'd also have to add shipping, border duty, etc. if you ordered from Ron Ayers.
Step Two: Ordering the Parts
Find your local Honda Powerhouse dealership.. you can't just go to any Honda car dealership, though they will likely have a Powerhouse and Car dealership in the same location.
Visit one of these websites to search for your local Honda Powerhouse dealership...
US: powersports.honda.com/dealers.aspx
Canada: honda.ca/MCPE/Motorcycle/Default.htm ("Find a Dealer" form at the bottom of the page)
From there it's just a matter of calling them up, getting forwarded to whomever is in charge of scooter parts ordering at that dealership and placing your order. They should be able to give you the cost and an estimate on when the parts should arrive at the dealership. It's unlikely they'll have any in stock at that location, but you never know.. I've had to get parts shipped from all over Canada and even have a few added to wait lists for when they get an allotment from Japan.
You'll have to pick the parts up from the dealership, paying on pickup. You won't have to pay shipping costs or deal with getting parts across a border. ^_^
Toronto, Ontario
The Powerhouse I've gotten parts though is located here:
Parkway Honda Powerhouse
1681 Eglinton Avenue East
North York, Ontario
M4A 1J6
416-752-6666
Ask for Brett, he's the man in charge of ordering scooter parts. The Powerhouse is currently in a run-down building behind a Honda car dealership, it doesn't even have a sign. But they'll be moving into a better building, nearby, sometime this year. For now just go into the car dealership, to their "Parts Desk" and let them know that Brett has some parts for you. They'll take you out back to pick them up.
